Finger cactus, also known as Mammillaria longimamma, with an actual accepted name of Dolichothele longimamma monstrose is a round cactus with long, clustered tubercles. The stem has a vibrant green hue, and it grows slowly. This cactus has a sizable tap root and should be planted in a pot with well-draining mineral-based soil.
To maintain steady development and prevent the long tubercles from becoming flabby, water the plant during its active growing period (spring and summer). Be mindful when watering since all thick-rooted species are prone to rotting. Reduce the amount of water during the winter dormancy; the plant may come to the top of the soil. Fertilize with a weakened high-potassium fertilizer every two weeks when the plant is in bloom. This plant needs filtered light for the best performance.Â
