Also known as climbing aloe, Aloe ciliaris has become a very popular plant and can be grown outside in milder gardens. This is the most rapidly growing of all aloe species and makes a showy climber for a frost-free environment.

Frost tolerance: Generally little protection is needed in winter
Minimum avg. temperature: 50°F (10°C)
Sun exposure: Light shade
Origin: South Africa (Eastern Cape Province)
Growth habits: Succulent, rambling shrub with stems up to 10" long (3 m) or more, rosettes are 20 to 24" in diameter (50 to 60 cm).
Watering needs: Needs more water in spring and fall when it is actively growing
Propagation: Stem cuttings, seeds
Blooming habits:The flowers are 1.2" (3 cm) red with a yellow-green margin and throat, intermittently around the year
