The Crinkle Leaf Plant, scientifically known as Adromischus Cristatus, is fan shaped and is native to the Eastern Cape of South Africa. The succulent tends to go dormant in winter. When it grows, this plant which belongs to the Crassulaceae family reaches a maximum height of 6 inches.
Crinkle leaf is a slow-growing plant with small, thick leaves that feature a distinctive wavy edge. It can take more than a few hours for the plant to mature.
Your crinkle leaf plant will flower over the spring or summer months and produce lovely reddish-white flowers that will grow on a tall stem from the main plant.
Watering and Feeding
While you need to wait for the soil to dry during all seasons, just water your plant once or twice during the entire cold season. Fertilize monthly in the spring and summer with a liquid fertilizer.
Since standard potting mixes are too dense for Adromischus Cristatus, a blend made especially for cacti and succulents is best for these plants.
While hardy down to freezing temperatures of 0°C, avoid exposure to frost. Adromischus Cristatus is hardy to USDA hardiness zone 10.
While they can tolerate partial shade, crinkle leaf plants prefer full sun, meaning at least six hours of direct sunlight. You can also use artificial growing light.
Propagation is possible with seeds or leaf cuttings. The preferred time for sowing seeds is between February and March. Remember that the seeding method can be slightly hard to perform.
Adromischus Cristatus or the Crinkle Leaf Plant is an attractive plant on its own but also looks lovely when added to a succulent garden mixture of succulents or cacti.
