Crassula Muscosa Lycopodioides, also known as Rattail Crassula or Watch Chain is a bushy succulent that belongs to the Crassulaceae family. The plant is native to South Africa and Namibia. It goes dormant in autumn and winter, growing to a height of 16 inches tall.

Growth Rate

It is true that the watch chain plant grows relatively fast during the growing period. However, when it comes to reaching their maximum height, these plants are not fast growers.

Flowering

The small, pale yellowish-green, musty-smelling Crassula Muscosa flowers appear along with the leaves, along the stems from spring to mid-summer.

Watering and Feeding

Water less during the winter and during the growing seasons, give them a good soaking once a week. Feed the plant in the spring and summer with a succulent fertilizer or a high-potassium fertilizer diluted to half strength.

Soil

As per rattail crassula care tips, we recommend using soil that allows water to pass through it, such as a mixture of cactus soil with perlite or sand for added drainage.

Hardiness

With a hardiness zone of 9a to 10b, the lowest temperature this plant can tolerate is 6°C. These plants like it on the warm side and can’t tolerate cold temperatures.

Light

Do not place the watch chain directly under sunlight. While it does best in bright light, it likes a bit of shade too. Especially in summer, harsh sunlight becomes unbearable.

Propagation

Watch Chain propagation is fairly easy and can be done from from cuttings. Take a stem cutting that has healthy leaves on it and use a sharp instrument to twist it off. The stems will come off easily.

These plants are a must-have in every respectable gardener’s collection. Rattail Crassula is splendid, low-maintenance, and has a great history. What more could you wish for?

So cute

I was in the hospital for a week and my little cactuses had to spend a good amount of time in my mail box, but they came out perfect and in great shape. They are the most adorable little plants I have ever seen and I can't wait to get them in their new marble pots. Will gladly purchase more from Planet Desert in the future!
