Gymnocalycium andreae is a low growing and prickly cactus that barely rises from the ground level. It's usually solitary in its habitat but often branches basally in cultivation and forms clusters. This species is different from other gymnocalycium because of the colors of its flowers. When it blooms, it generates bright yellow flowers.
