It is a very attractive, medium-sized Agave with short, broad, bluish leaves that are mildly thorny along the margins. This species was scientifically described as recently as 2010 from Oaxaca, Mexico. Both Agave potatorum and Agave seemanniana share its habitat and it is possible that Agave nussaviorum is a natural hybrid of the two.
Agave nussaviorum grows solitary with a height of 30 to 50 cm and is 40 to 60 cm wide.
It has yellow-colored, loosely arranged bell-shaped flowers. The flowering period is from August to December.
