Euphorbia hedyotoides

It is a root-succulent deciduous shrub found in South-West Madagascar. Flowers are yellow to pale red.

A summer grower that requires very well-draining soil and not too much sun. It should be watered sparingly during the Summer months, in Winter it should only be watered when the soil is completely dry.

Many growers raise the root ball above ground to expose the beauty of the plant, however it is suggested that development of the root will be faster if it is left below ground for the first year or so.

It is a typical warm weather grower that you can grow in full or partial sun. It is not a particularly difficult or rot-prone plant to grow.

It makes a great bonsai subject and can be pruned and trained rather easily. It is an example of a very nice Madagascan plant that isn't difficult to care for, can easily be manipulated and is a beautiful specimen once grown for several years. The biggest challenge with this plant is the patience it takes to leave the caudex hidden underground for the years it takes to get to an impressive size.

It develops tiny yellow flowers and green seed capsules throughout growing season. Excellent for natural bonsai.
