Introducing the Agave angustifolia marginata, known as variegated Caribbean agave, which is a stunning succulent plant that belongs to the Agavaceae family. Native to the Caribbean region, it is commonly referred to as, Variegated Century Plant, striped Caribbean agave, or sometimes simply as Variegated Agave.

Agave angustifolia 'Marginata' is a succulent plant with dense rosettes atop a short trunk, usually hidden until age. The leaves are greyish-green to bluish-grey with a broad, pale-green central band and creamy-white margins. They are stiff, lance-shaped, concave. This agave typically reaches a height of 2 to 3 feet and spreads to about 3 to 4 feet in width.

A cluster of Variegated Caribbean Agave shows spiky green leaves with light yellow edges, ideal for outdoor landscaping.

When in flower, which occurs when the rosette is at least ten years old and often much later, it produces a spike with a well-branched panicle bearing yellow or greenish-white flowers that can reach a height of ten feet.

When it comes to care, the Agave angustifolia var marginata plant is drought-tolerant and prefers infrequent but deep watering.

Allow the soil to dry out between waterings to prevent overwatering, as excessive moisture can lead to root rot.

Provide your Variegated Caribbean Agave with plenty of bright, indirect sunlight. It thrives in full sun but can also tolerate partial shade. Well-draining soil is crucial for the health of this agave. This agave prefers indoor warmer temperatures between 65°F and 75°F. When growing outdoors, it is well-suited to USDA zones 9-11.

The Agave angustifolia can be propagated through offsets, which are small plantlets that grow around the base of the mature plant. These offsets can be carefully separated and replanted to produce new plants.
