The Chocolate Drop is an impressively detailed plant, and the cocoa-brown spine shields that highlight the green branches give it a little extra allure. Spine shields are pinkish-rose when in the growing phase but turn to chocolate brown with maturity. They have simplified blooms with no petals, and it is their architecture that people most admire.  This plant is also called the Candelabra Tree because of its tree-like branching habit.
