Watering and Feeding

Water Hottentot bread frequently from spring to fall, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Watering should be reduced in the winter and water only to keep the tuber from shriveling. The best soil for your succulent is a fast-draining soil mix.

Hardiness

The Fockea edulis plant is cold-hardy. It has a frost tolerance of -2° C (28.4° F) and belongs to the hardiness zone of 9b to 11.

Light

These plants prefer to grow in partial shade sun exposure. They can tolerate full sun but require some shade during the hottest part of the day.

Propagation

Plants of the Hottentot bread are relatively simple to grow from seed. They are dioecious, which means that both male and female plants are required to produce seeds.

Fockea edulis is the best plant for your garden. It looks eye-catching and can be kept in a variety of settings.
