It is a perennial sub-tuberous shrubby species with thin fingerlike leaves.
Root: Turnip-like, fleshy.
Leaves: more or less half-cylindrical, acuminate smooth, punctate, only 2-3 mm broad and thick up to 50 mm long.
Flowers: Up to 35 mm in diameter. Petals pinkish-purple 16 mm long.
Fruit: 5-locular.
