Get ready to meet the Mealy Kalanchoe - Kalanchoe farinacea! This succulent is a low-growing and perennial plant that stands 30cm tall, making it a perfect addition to your indoor garden or outdoor landscape. During winter and springtime, with yellow flowers on its lower half and a bright scarlet color on the upper part, it's a spectacle you won't want to miss out on! And while Mealy Kalanchoe may appear similar to other succulents of the Kalanchoe genus of about 125 species, what sets them apart is their flower colors.

The stems stand upright with few branches and are white or whitish green in color. You will notice that the leaves tend to grow towards the tips of the branch, making it look like it's stretching out for some sunshine. It's like a little garden masterpiece!

All in all, Kalanchoe farinacea succulents definitely prefer warmer climates but can survive in zones 10-11(USDA). Just remember though - this little guy can't handle freezing temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. But what really sets it apart! Is just how easy it is to care for – requires only Full sun or partial shade, and minimal watering. These plants favor a well-drained soil mix, so here at Planet Desert, we have a specialized succulent potting soil that includes an organic substrate with mycorrhizae to help with the growth of a healthy root system. But that's not all – it's also an extremely drought-tolerant species and requires minimum attention.

Keep an eye out for pests too; aphids, scale, spider mites, and nematodes can attack this precious gem. So make sure to check those leaves for any bites or tearing and use non-toxic insecticides if needed. Trust me, this Kalanchoe plant is truly one-of-a-kind and deserves a spot in every succulent lover's collection!
