Myrtillocactus geometrizans crest goes by the common name “Crested Blue Flame”. Having a columnar shape, it develops a short and thick trunk over time. The plant has its origin in Northern Central Mexico and belongs to the family of Cactaceae. Myrtillocactus geometrizans crest offers a dormancy of winters and can grow from 12 to 48 inches in height.

Growth Rate 

This succulent grows at an extremely slow pace. It takes its own sweet time to nurture and spreads out over a thick and dense columnar trunk.

Flowering

Myrtillocactus geometrizans crest is known for its greenish white-colored flowers that bloom specifically during the month of March. 

Watering and Feeding 

Only water the plant thoroughly when the soil feels completely dry. As the weather gets colder, reduce water frequency. Feed the plant once a month during its growing season with a fertilizer that has a high amount of phosphorus in it.

Soil 

A soil with good drainage, ample gravel, and a succulent soil mix is ideal. Putting some pebbles at the bottom of the pot is also a good idea.

Hardiness 

Crested Blue Flame plant grows best in winters, keeping in mind its frost tolerance of anywhere below -0° C (32° F). It belongs to the hardiness zone of 9a to 11b.

Light

This cactus requires partial sun exposure when it is just beginning to grow, and as it matures, the plant enjoys full sun exposure for complete growth.

Propagation

The Myrtillocactus geometrizans crest succulent can be propagated through fruit seeds. Allow seeds to dry out and plant them during the spring or summer season. Use plastic pots with a good drainage system.

Myrtillocactus geometrizans crest is one of those cacti that bears fruits known as Garambullos. This fruit is not just edible but also not at all toxic. It is used in medicines to alter the growth of cancer cells!

healthy rooted plant in a pot way too big

(repost w/ pic) The title about says it all. It was a healthily rooted plant in a 4" pot that was way too big. I repotted it to a 2" pot and it looks great!
