Notocactus scopa rubra

Parodia scopa v. rubra is a member of the Cactaceae family and is another variety ofNotocactus scopa. The plant is spherical and has rusty orange and short white spines all around it. Throughout the plant, the spines create an appealing spiral geometric pattern. It isn't a heavy clumper but will eventually develop more heads. It requires normal cactus maintenance and defend it from the chilly weather.

With its silvery spines and brilliant yellow flowers, Parodia scopa, frequently forms clusters. Soft tufts of bristly spines resembling tiny brushes almost completely conceal the stems, the varied combination of white and reddish-brown spines on different plants. It has extremely attractive, supple, white, fir-like spines that frequently have crimson centers. The rings of canary and satin yellow flowers are developed on apex clusters, open during the day, and close at night.

It thrives in a warm, bright environment and grows well in some shade, but it dislikes full sun, and scorching light throughout the middle of summer. It can tolerate a fair amount of water throughout the growing season, but this plant in the winter needs to be kept dry because they are wet-sensitive.
