Thelocactus hexaedrophorus lloydii major, commonly known as ‘Suncup’, is a solitary, strong-armed cactus. A native of Southern Brazil, this winter-dormant plant has reddish-white brown central spines with a yellow-colored tip. Suncup belongs to the Cactaceae family and reaches 3-4" inches in height.

 

Growth Rate

The growth rate of the suncup plant is slow.

Flowering

The white-yellow flowers of this cactus look attractive, especially due to the velvet touch. The blooming season is summer.

Water and Feeding/Fertilizer

Like other cacti, Thelocactus hexaedrophorus also needs moderate water throughout the year. Keep it dry in the winter season. 

Soil

This plant needs cactus mix soil with an organic blend.
