Crassula orbicularis rosularis is a clumping succulent with flat green leaves, burgundy on the under face, with ciliate margins and acute tip. The terminal ascending inflorescence is up to 8 inches tall. The whole plant becomes more purple when stressed in full sun or cool temperatures.
Growth Rate
This crassula grows fast up to a height of 25cm when in full bloom.
Flowering
The succulent is carried by an elongated, purple stalk, which overlooks the rest of the plant. Flowers are white when still buds, dark red when blossoming, similar to leaves.
Water and Feeding/Fertilizer
Never let your crassula sit in water. If you water from beneath by letting the plant sit in a saucer of water, make sure to pour off any excess water after a few minutes.
Soil
Interventions should be moderate and frequent to maintain a moist soil in Spring and Summer and reduced and scarce in Winter, only when the substrate completely dries up, to prevent it from root and stem rot.
Hardiness
This variety of succulents belongs to the hardiness zone of 9b to 11b and has a frost tolerance of -4° C (25° F).
Light
This plant requires a partially shaded spot, or either a position in which it can receive filtered light.
Propagation
This crassula can be propagated through the cutting of offsets or from seeds.
