Resembling a blue flame with its gracefully incurved leaf, Agave 'Blue Flame' is an evergreen succulent perennial which produces elegant rosettes of flexible blue-green leaves with finely serrated margins and a terminal spine.
The growth rate of Blue Flame is slow, but it reaches incredible heights.
Showy creamy-yellow flowers develop on 12-15 ft. tall arching spikes in late fall and winter.
Water and Feeding/Fertilizer
The high and low range of moisture indicates Blue Flame agave can grow with varying amounts of water; little supplemental water is needed during summer.
The agave is easily grown in slightly acidic, sandy or gravelly, moist or dry, well-drained soils.
This variety of succulents are hardy to at least 25 F in zones 8-11.
Plant in full to part sun except in hot inland and desert gardens where light shade will prevent scorching of the foliage.
