Quadricolor Century Plant and Big Lechuguilla are some of the most common names for Agave Lophanta Quadricolor. The succulent is native to South Texas and has a thorn at the tip with sharply toothed edges. Belonging to the Asparagaceae family, it can grow up to 12 to 18 inches tall and is an evergreen plant!

Growth Rate

The plant is a slow grower no matter how much you nurture it. Even if given ideal conditions, it does take a few years to mature.

Flowering

Agave Lophanta Quadricolor blooms once and dies after like other Agave plants. The color of the flowers is greenish-yellow.

Watering and Feeding

Follow a minimal watering routine for your succulent. However, water the plant more frequently during summers but allow the soil to dry out before you water. If you want a rich look, feed the plant with a slow-release fertilizer occasionally.

Soil

The more nutrients the soil has, the better. It should have a loamy texture and you can achieve this by buying a succulent potting soil mix. The 7-8pH level is recommended.

Hardiness

Keeping in mind its hardiness zone of 8-11, the succulent blooms in the spring season. It has a frost tolerance of -11° C.

Light

The plant is flexible when it comes to the kind of sunlight it receives. It prefers full sun but can tolerate light shade too. Quadricolor Century Plant can survive in the heat.

Propagation

Cuttings are the most reliable form of propagation for Agave Lophanta Quadricolor. It is also the fastest method since the cuttings of the mother plant are easily removable.

Remember to be on the lookout for infestation signs. Brown spots and withering leaves are the most common signs.
