Agave Pablocarrilloi goes by the common name “Colima Stone Agave” or “Carillo Agave”. This succulent is sword-shaped. The plant has its origin in Mexico and belongs to the family of Asparagaceae. Carillo Agave faces dormancy in winter and it can grow up to a height of 2-3 feet.

Growth Rate

Even though Colima Stone Agave is one of the rare plants in the family that perfectly thrives in a container, it is extremely slow-growing too.

Flowering

You will witness the growth of large, stiff, and yellow-colored flowers. Colima Stone Agave will bloom during summer, right before monsoon approaches.

Watering and Feeding

Colima Stone Agave has moderate water requirements. It can survive with minimal watering but can rot if overwatered. Fertilize the plant with an all-purpose liquid fertilizer once a month.

Soil

Ensure that the soil is free-draining and fertile. Since the succulent does best in desert climates, prepare a sandy soil mix.

Hardiness

Colima Stone Agave grows best in the summer season, considering its frost tolerance of approximately -6.5° C (20° F). It belongs to the hardiness zone between 7 to 11.

Light

Agave Pablocarrilloi enjoys full sun since the first day it is planted. They prefer light shade when young and if in dry and hot climates.

Propagation

The plant can be propagated through offsets. When they have matured and grown large enough, gently break them away and plant them in a container.

Agave Pablocarrilloi is low maintenance and flexible when it comes to thriving in climatic conditions. This is one of those plants which are known to be highly child and pet friendly.
