A pure nudum with white dots bearing three distinct ribs is the characteristic feature of the Astrophytum myriostigma tricostatum cactus. The common name of this plant is Bishop’s cap. The cactus belonging to the Cactaceae family is nursery-cultivated. This three-ribbed plant is sometimes marked with white flecks, light or dense in appearance. As the plant gets older, some of them develop more ribs. It flowers only when it is 4 or 5 years old. Between Spring and Autumn, the plant bears funnel-shaped large yellow flowers. The frost-hardy plant has a slow growth rate. It goes dormant during summer. With the full sun to light shade, this cactus grows to a height of 20 cm.
