The Huernia pillansii is a native to South Africa and is commonly known as Cocklebur or Cockle burrs. The cockleburs plant belongs to the Asclepiadaceae family. It appears ovate and cylindrical, growing to a height of 10-12 cm with filtered sunlight. The cocklebur tree is winter-dormant with a slow growth rate. The leaves of this succulent appear as soft bristles. The star-like or cup-like cocklebur flowers are yellow or reddish-brown in color. Spiny cocklebur blooms during late summer to early fall and is not frost-hardy.
