Cultivation and Propagation: Rebutia tropaeolipicta is a summer grower species that is easy to cultivate and recommended for beginners. The whole Rebutia pygmaea complex has delightful flowers and the plants remain compact, and clumps can easily be managed by division. Another advantage is that the plants are very cold hardy in Winter if kept dry.

Compact Size But Forms Pups

Chose Mediolobivia tropaolipicta for its compact size and its pastel red-orange flowers. It is compact, less than an 1.5" high, with a tiny pup flanking it to start a colony. It hasn't bloomed yet, but hopefully it will next spring.
