A dwarf clumping species, Monadenium ritchei nymbayense, goes by the common name ‘Euphorbia ritchiei.’ Belonging to the Euphorbiaceae family, these winter-dormant cacti are characterized by a clumping columnar shape, growing up to a height of 10 to 12 inches. The East Africa origin species has a thick fleshy rootstock with innumerable short knobby stems. It requires very little pampering with a characteristic fast growth rate.
