This crested Pachypodium is sometimes referred to as a "Madagascar Palm". It is actually a succulent and is, therefore, more strongly linked to cacti than palms. This stunning indoor plant is native to Madagascar, and because of the leaves that encircle the crown, that's why its known as a palm. 

The Crested Madagascar Palm is the crested variety of the regular Madagascar Palm and features long, prickly spines on its bulbous, silvery stem. The long, slender, and green leaves are large. The majority of its leaves will fall off throughout the winter, and then they will sprout back in the spring.
