T he Pothos Patricio, botanically known as Epipremnum aureum 'Patricio', is an easy-care tropical houseplant prized for its versatile trailing and climbing growth habit. Its lush green heart-shaped leaves are decorated with attractive yellow to lime-green marbling, streaks, and splashes of variegation that give the plant a bright, lively appearance. This adaptable pothos is an excellent choice for beginners and experienced plant collectors, whether displayed in a hanging basket, cascading from a high shelf, or trained upward on a moss pole or trellis.

Native to tropical regions of the western Pacific, Epipremnum aureum naturally grows as a climbing vine, using aerial roots to attach itself to trees.

Indoors, Pothos Patricio can develop trailing stems up to 10 feet long or more when given room to grow, while regular pruning helps maintain a fuller, more compact shape.

In warm, frost-free outdoor climates, the species can grow considerably larger and climb high into trees.

Mature Pothos plants can occasionally produce small, inconspicuous flowers consisting of a spadix surrounded by a spathe, but flowering is extremely rare indoors and is not the primary reason this plant is grown.

For indoor growing, place Pothos Patricio in bright, indirect light, although it can tolerate lower light with slower growth. Use a loose, well-draining potting mix and water when the soil has partially dried, avoiding constantly wet conditions. Average household humidity is generally sufficient, while moderate humidity can encourage healthier growth. Keep temperatures around 65°F to 85°F and protect the plant from cold drafts and temperatures below approximately 50°F.

Outdoors, Pothos Patricio can be grown year-round in USDA Hardiness Zones 10–12 in warm, frost-free areas with bright filtered or dappled light and protection from intense afternoon sun.

Feed with a balanced, diluted NPK fertilizer during active growth according to the product label, reducing feeding during the cooler, slower-growing months. Prune long or sparse vines regularly to encourage branching and maintain the desired shape.

Like other Epipremnum aureum varieties, Pothos Patricio is easily propagated from stem cuttings, making it simple to expand a collection or share with fellow plant enthusiasts. Its flexible growth habit also allows it to be enjoyed as a trailing houseplant, hanging basket specimen, tabletop accent, or climbing vine.

Overall, Pothos Patricio is a versatile, easy-care tropical houseplant that combines attractive variegated foliage with a naturally cascading or climbing habit. With suitable light, well-draining soil, careful watering, and occasional pruning and feeding, it can remain a beautiful and rewarding addition to indoor plant collections for years.
