Native to Bolivia, the Sulcorebutia rauschii is highly sought after by cactus enthusiasts for its unique appearance and vibrant blooms. 

This miniature clustering species (rarely solitary) can easily form clumps of many heads. The stem is covered in flat tubercles ranging in color from violet-green to bright mauve. The tubercles in older plants form up to 16 spiral lines that merge at the apex.
