Introducing the Sulcorebutia rauschii (Rebutia canigueralii), a beautiful member of the Sulcorebutia genus, which is known for Herringbone shape. Native to Bolivia, the Sulcorebutia rauschii is highly sought after by cactus enthusiasts for its unique appearance and vibrant blooms.

This miniature clustering species (rarely solitary) can easily form clumps of many heads. The stem is covered in flat tubercles ranging in color from violet-green to bright mauve. The tubercles in older plants form up to 16 spiral lines that merge at the apex.

With the slow growth, the Sulcorebutia rauschii typically can grow up to 4 inches tall.

In fact, its appearance varies greatly, and many forms are now cultivated, including one with an appealing grafted variety.

When Sulcorebutia rauschii blooms, it produces stunningly vibrant pink, yellow-green flowers that add a burst of color to its overall appearance during the late spring.

The contrast between the bright flowers and the cactus's spiky green body creates a visually striking display in any garden or collection.

When it comes to Sulcorebutia rauschii care, it thrives in bright, indirect light, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor cultivation. It prefers well-draining soil and should be watered sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. This Sulcorebutia cactus is also tolerant of dry conditions and can withstand periods of drought. It is best to provide good airflow around the plant to prevent any fungal issues.

When growing indoors, it generally prefers temperatures between 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit. It is important to avoid extreme temperature fluctuations, as this can stress the plant and inhibit growth. For outdoor cultivation, it is well-suited in USDA zone 9-11.

The Sulcorebutia rauschii can be propagated through various methods. One common method is by collecting and sowing its seeds. Another method is by gently detaching and replanting the offsets or "pups" that grow from the base of the mother plant. These offsets can be carefully separated and given their own space to grow and thrive.
